

WARANGAL RURAL: Pakhal Lake, constructed by Kakatiyan ruler Ganapatideva, will soon be developed into a major tourism spot. As an initial step towards the development process, seven cottages, a restaurant and few other facilities constructed at the eco tourism resort near the lake area with an estimated cost of Rs 1.5 crore, were inaugurated on Sunday.
The government is also planning to set up a deer park for the visitors.
There is also a proposal to set up zip lines (cable or rope stretched between two points down which a person slides for amusement by means of a suspended harness, pulley or handle) at the resorts as part of adventure sports. Parasailing activities are also being mulled.
This apart, the lake has been selected under the Prime Minister Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) and a detailed project report (DPR) for Rs 73 crore is being prepared for taking up various developmental works under the programme.
Tourism minister Azmeera Chandulal, who inaugurated cottages at the resort on Sunday, said the government was planning to develop Laknavaram, Ramappa and Pakhal as major tourism spots. “We are planning to develop deer park at all the three lake areas. We are also mulling supplying water to all the three lakes through Devadula project all round the year,” the minister said.
Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation chairman Pervaram Ramulu said the corporation has several plans for Laknavaram, Ramappa and Pakhal lake development.
“We would be constructing such cottages in other places as well. The state government is giving top priority to tourism development and initiatives are being taken for developing all the noted tourist spots, especially eco tourism spots,” he said.
Meanwhile, Warangal rural collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil expressed the need to provide quality power supply to the resort and suggested that a special dedicated power line be set up for uninterrupted supply of power to the resort from Ghanapur.
Mahabubabad MP Seetharam Naik, Civil Supplies Corporation chairman Sudharshan Reddy and others were present on the occasion.
