HYDERABAD: The state government revived the Telangana Sahitya Akademi on Tuesday and appointed noted poet Nandini Siddha Reddy as its chairperson.
Declaring the TRS government’s commitment to the renaissance of Telangana culture and language, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had declared in the past that all the Akademis in the state would be revived. Accordingly, he cleared a file appointing Nandini Siddha Reddy as chairman of Telangana Sahitya Akademi.
Nandini Siddha Reddy is a member of TSPSC syllabus review committee and Telangana state textbooks review committee. He started his career as a Telugu lecturer and retired as principal of a government degree college. Reddy is also founder-president of Manjira Rachayitala Sangham, Telangana Rachayitala Vedika and Telangana Rachayitala Sangham.
Rao also decided to revive other Akademis — Sangeeta, Nataka, Lalitakala and Janapada — very soon.
World Telugu meet in June KCR decided to conduct Prapancha Telugu Mahasabhalu (World Telugu Convention) in Hyderabad from June 2 to 10, coinciding with State Formation Day. It would be conducted in a manner that it would highlight TS literature. Literary personalities and Telugu lovers from across the globe would be invited, he said.
