File progress report on Miyapur land scam: Hyderabad High Court

HYDERABAD: Questioning the state government as to why the police has filed the charge sheet in a hurried manner without examining all the accused in the Miyapur land scam case, a division bench of the Hyderabad High Court on Monday directed the state government to file a detailed report informing the progress/status of the ongoing investigation, action taken against the accused and other related details of the case in four weeks.

Out of many accused in the charge sheet filed before the trial court, the police have arrested only three and they too obtained bail. Whether the police have issued notices to the accused concerned under Sec 41A CrPC? Though most of the accused were roaming outside, no action has been initiated by the police, the bench pointed out.

The bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice G Shyam Prasad was posing these questions while dealing with a PIL filed by M Raghunandan Rao, advocate and BJP leader, seeking directions to the Telangana government to transfer the Miyapur land scam case to the CBI. Taking these submissions into consideration, the bench granted four weeks time to the state for filing a detailed report regarding the progress made in the ongoing probe, and adjourned the case.
