TJAC rally: Participation will mar job prospects, police warn

DCP Joel Davis asks students from districts to not come to Hyderabad to take part in protest; superintendents and commissioners asked to ensure the same

HYDERABAD: Ahead of the Telangana Joint Action Committee’s (TJAC) proposed Nirudyoga Nirasana Rally, police on Tuesday, advised students and jobless youth to not come to Hyderabad to take part in the rally “which had no permission.”

“Legal action will be taken in case of any violation and this will affect your future and job prospects,” Hyderabad city police commissioner M Mahender Reddy has warned students. With the TJAC firm on taking out a procession and holding a public meeting at Dharna Chowk here on Wednesday, all the district superintendents and commissioners of police in the state were informed by the Hyderabad police to prevent youngsters from taking part in the protest.

“There is no permission for rally or public meeting in Hyderabad tomorrow (Wednesday) for the call given by TJAC. It was conveyed to district SPs and commissioners. I appeal to people to not come to Indira Park since prohibitory orders are in place. I appeal to students from districts to not come to Hyderabad. Legal action will be taken in case of any violation and this will affect their job prospects,” DCP (central zone) Joel Davis said. “Since permission has not been granted for the rally and the meeting, I appeal to all the people to obey the orders and not create violence,” he said.

Additional commissioner of police (traffic) Jitender issued orders on traffic diversion in areas surrounding Sundarayya Vignana Kendram (SVK) and Dharna Chowk (near Indira Park). “TJAC doesn’t have permission for the rally but they may try to gather at SVK or Indira Park. They may also try to take out a procession from SVK to Indira Park. In those circumstances, there may be traffic congestion. Users of roads in the areas of SVK and Indira Park are advised to take alternative routes. School-goers, businessmen, officers and passengers leaving for railway and bus stations or airport are advised to plan their journeys accordingly,” Jitender said.
