A delegation of TRS MPs led by B Vinod Kumar called on Union health minister J P Nadda in New Delhi on Friday.

HYDERABAD: A delegation of TRS MPs led by B Vinod Kumar called on Union health minister J P Nadda in New Delhi on Friday and requested him to take steps to set up All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the state, as per the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.

“Setting up of AIIMS in the newly formed Telangana State is a promise made in the AP Reorganisation Act. Hence, we urged the Union health minister to take measures to fulfil this promise as soon as possible,” Vinod Kumar told media persons after calling on JP Nadda.

The TRS MP further said they had explained the Union health minister about the benefits the proposed premier health institute would provide to people belonging to neighbouring states like Karnataka, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, if it is set up in Telangana.

“JP Nadda got convinced and promised us that his department would expedite the process of granting all permissions and funds to set up AIIMS in Telangana,” Vinod Kumar said.

In fact, the state government has already decided to set up the proposed AIIMS at Bhongir town. It has even identified 1,000 acres of land at Bhongir to set up the hospital.
