KCR holds high-level meeting, rules out CBI probe in Miyapur land scam

Dismissing the demand for a CBI probe into the Miyapur land scam, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao asserted that the state exchequer did not lose a single rupee by fraudulent registration of lands.

HYDERABAD: Dismissing the demand for a CBI probe into the Miyapur land scam, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao asserted that the state exchequer did not lose a single rupee by fraudulent registration of lands.

Rao, who held a high-level meeting with officials, directed the latter to furnish all the information regarding Miyapur lands to the Supreme Court judge so that government could protect its lands. He also directed them to come out with a policy on reforming stamps and registration department.
Rao said that the government lands in Miyapur were in the possession of the government and no private persons took physical possession.

However, some private persons approached the court and cases were pending before the SC over Miyapur lands. In this regard, Rao directed the officials to give all the relevant information to the Apex Court judge.
The sub-registrar provides “litigation rights” to private persons for 810 acres of land. Actually it was not “transfer of land registration,’’ Rao noted. If it was “transfer of land registration”, the parties should pay `415 crore stamp duty. But, they paid only `60 lakh. “There is no basis even for collecting this amount,” he said.

Rao further noted that the lands should be registered under “immovable property” in Book-1. But, the lands were registered under “movable property” in Book-4 of the sub-registrar office. “Thus, this registration has no sanctity and is not vaild,” he said.

Some persons approached the courts to get rights on Jagir lands in the past. They only resorted to fake registrations to present their arguments in the court that lands belonged to them, he noted.
Rao also reviewed the Balanagar land registration scam. Sub-registrars were helping private persons to get rights over lands through registrations, the Chief Minister felt.
