HYDERABAD/MAHBUBNAGAR: Lending credence to the theory that BJP is moving closer to the ruling TRS, after its splitsville with the TDP, the saffron party attacked the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC), headed by M Kodandaram.
The Congress Party has openly backed Kodandaram, who has disclosed his intentions to float a political party. However, the BJP, which had been maintaining a stony silence on the programmes of the TJAC till the other day, on Wednesday went ballistic at the outfit. BJP national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao attacked TJAC on Twitter.
The BJP leader chose the issue of proposed reservations to Muslims in education and employment to criticise Kodandaram.
“Oh, now TJAC under Kodandaram ji has started supporting reservation based on religion, which is against Indian Constitutional values. Dividing society into Hindus and Muslims represents British legacy, nurtured by Congress and now adopted by TRS.
TJAC under Kodandaram ji joins the club,” Muralidhar Rao tweeted. “BJP is the only party in Telangana which has opposed religion-based discrimination and stands by letter and spirit of the Constitution. When has TJAC discussed the issue in its forum? Kodandaram ji is trying to hijack the TJAC for TRS-MIM-Congress followers,” he alleged.
Though the BJP leader also criticised the TRS over Muslim reservation issue, the way the BJP State leadership had maintained silence during and after the TJAC’s unemployment rally, the critique may suggest a TRS-BJP rapprochement.
