HYDERABAD: The proposal put forward by some of his party seniors such as Motkupalli Narasimhulu, to enter into an alliance with the ruling TRS in the next general polls, appears to be making the TDP TS unit working president A Revanth Reddy to be in touch with the Congress leadership for his ‘future political needs’.

According to sources, Revanth Reddy, who has emerged as the lone vociferous critic of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao with his power packed verbal brickbats against the policies of the state government in the past three years, has been feeling deep insecurity within the yellow party ever since the proposal to forge an electoral pact between TRS and TDP was brought forward.
As the TDP supremo and Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu reportedly preferred not to give any clarity on TDP’s future political alliances in Telangana for the next general polls, it is learnt that Revanth has begun making preparations for his exit from the yellow party, if the TDP leadership decides to side with TRS in the state.

“Revanth Reddy is being lured by both Congress and BJP. Being an outspoken politico, Revanth wants to enjoy a sort of freedom in any political party, to which he wants to move. As he can’t enjoy total freedom in a party like BJP, he is not interested in joining the saffron party. Instead, he is keen on shifting his loyalties towards the Congress, which is known for internal democracy,” a close aide of the TDP MLA told Express.

The source further disclosed that Revanth has been in touch with Congress leadership. Former Union minister S Jaipal Reddy, who is Revanth’s wife’s uncle, has assured the young leader in this regard.
“In fact, till a few days ago, Revanth had not maintained good relationship with Jaipal Reddy. Even during family functions, Revanth used to avoid a direct encounter with him as he had some family issues with him. Now, the situation is gradually changing.

As Congress also doesn’t want to lose a potential leader like Revanth, Jaipal Reddy is holding negotiations with the TDP leader on behalf of the Congress leadership,” source added.
An associate of the TDP TS unit working president further revealed that though Revanth has a categorical assurance from the Congress, he is not in a hurry to cross over to the Congress immediately.
“He is making preparations to hold a padayatra across the state to expose failures of the government. Depending on the future political developments, Revanth will make his moves with regard to joining the Congress.

TDP leaders, belonging to Reddy community, such as Revuri Prakash Reddy, A Uma Madhava Reddy, Vem Narender Reddy and others are with Revanth. If he decides to cross over to Congress, they all might follow him,” the source informed.
