Telangana government to issue Pattadar passbooks in phases

According to sources, the printing of Pattadar passbooks is going on at a brisk pace and around 20 to 25 per cent books will be ready soon.

HYDERABAD: The State government will distribute Pattadar passbooks to farmers across the state in phases. Earlier, the State government had planned to distribute the passbooks on a single day.“Whenever the printing of passbooks are ready, they will be distributed among farmers without waiting for the remaining books,” an official in revenue department said on Friday. According to sources, the printing of Pattadar passbooks is going on at a brisk pace and around 20 to 25 per cent books will be ready soon.

“These books will cover every Assembly segment and all the 30 districts in the state. In the next phase too, some villages in all the districts will be covered,” the official sources added. However, the formal launch of distribution has not been decided yet.Once the first batch of passbooks is ready, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will decide the distribution day, sources added.   

Meanwhile, the revenue department is also gearing up for regularisation of assigned lands. Of the around 20 lakh acres of assigned lands in the state, around 2 lakh acres are in possession of poor farmers. Some assigned lands have been converted into housing plots. These two types of assigned lands would be registered in the name of those who currently live on them.However, the condition was that they should not alienate or sell those lands, revenue officials explained.
