HYDERABAD: With Assembly elections round the corner, the TRS has begun witnessing internal squabbles among its leaders on who should contest from which seat in the ensuing polls. The ongoing verbal duel between Warangal East MLA Konda Surekha and Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) mayor Nannapaneni Narender, who both belong to the ruling TRS, with regard to who should contest the ensuing Assembly polls from the Warangal East constituency, has taken an ugly turn.
Following Surekha’s repeated warnings, mayor Narender on Saturday came down heavily on the MLA, saying that Surekha had been a legislator from Warangal East segment as he had sacrificed the seat for her in 2014.“TRS leadership provided an opportunity to Surekha to contest from the Warangal East seat, only after I renounced the seat. It’s unfair for Surekha to forget my sacrifices.
She has been targeting me for the past few days. I am now making it clear that I have every right to stake a claim to the Warangal East Assembly seat,” Narender said while addressing media here on Saturday. The Warangal city mayor, however, made it clear that the final decision with regard to seat allotment in the ensuing Assembly polls would be taken by the TRS leadership. Stating that he would give utmost respect to Surekha by treating her as his sister, Narender alleged that the MLA was not reciprocating the same.
