Telangana state cabinet to meet on July 27

A team of senior officers led by chief secretary SK Joshi told CM K Chandrasekhar Rao that there was no alternative to appointing persons-in-charge in place of sarpanches whose term will end in August

HYDERABAD: The state cabinet will meet at Pragathi Bhavan here at 3 pm on July 27, according to an official press release issued here on Tuesday.  It is likely to discuss the appointment of persons-in-charge to village panchayats in place of sarpanches, setting up of 119 more BC residential schools and other matters.

A team of senior officers led by chief secretary SK Joshi told CM K Chandrasekhar Rao that there was no alternative to appointing persons-in-charge in place of sarpanches whose term will end on August 1. For the first time, 4,383 new panchayats have come into existence and the topography of the villages has changed.

Wages hiked: After an eight-hour-long meeting on Gram Panchayats, the CM decided to hike the wages of Panchayat staff. The CM directed the officials to explore ways to increase the revenues of village panchayats.

Special budget: The Chief Minister announced that special budgetary allocations would be made to strengthen the panchayats financially. He also discussed the duties and responsibilities of special officers and village secretaries.
