HYDERABAD: The Central government told the Supreme Court that the Sheela Bhide committee constituted for the purpose of apportionment of assets, rights and liabilities and division of employees of corporations and institutions listed in the Schedule IX of the AP Reorganization Act, 2014 was at an advanced stage, and that the term of the committee has been extended up to August 31, 2018 to complete the said exercise.

In this regard, the ministry of home affairs represented by deputy secretary Krishan Kumar recently filed the counter affidavit in the petition filed by Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, Congress deputy leader in Telangana legislative council, seeking directions to the authorities concerned to take action on the representations made by him for implementation of provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014 enacted by the Union of India.

Stating that in most of the issues, action has either been completed or being completed or initiated by the various ministries/departments concerned, he urged the court to reject the petition. The matter is expected to come up for a hearing next month.
