Civil Supplies Department tries to pacify Telangana ration supply dealers

The dealers planned to go on a protest from July 1 as their demand for increase commission rate from Rs 70 to Rs 300.

HYDERABAD: In an attempt to negotiate issues concerning the ration dealers, civil supplies commissioner Akun Sabharwal held a meeting with them at the Civil Supplies Bhavan here on Sunday.

The primary aim of the meeting was to ask the ration dealers to call off their strike that was proposed to start from July 1 in supplying rations to economically weaker sections of various parts of Telangana.
The commissioner requested the dealers to call off the strike as it will affect 85 lakh poor people of the State, a release stated.

“The protest is against the law. Telangana According to the public distribution scheme (PDS) of the Telangana contracts order 2016 and supply of emergency commodities, any dealer causing hindrance to the transportation of emergency supplies would be terminated and replaced. It would be appropriate if this is taken into consideration,” a release stated.
