KHAMMAM: Minister for Endowments and Forests A Indrakaran Reddy on Wednesday reaffirmed the commitment of the State government to protect every inch of the land belonging to Lord Rama situated in Andhra Pradesh. During his visit to Ramalayam, where he offered prayers, Indrakaran Reddy addressed the media and highlighted the urgency to resolve the issue of encroachments on the sacred land.

He said that out of the total 889.50 acres of land in Purushothapatnam village, approximately 110 acres remained unaffected while the rest had fallen victim to illegal occupations. The Minister disclosed that officials from Telangana had already reached out to their counterparts in Andhra Pradesh, requesting them to take necessary measures to clear the encroachments and restore the land to Lord Rama.

“Our responsibility is not limited to safeguarding the government lands of Andhra Pradesh within Telangana. We expect the Andhra Pradesh government to reciprocate in a similar manner,” expressed Indrakaran Reddy. He further revealed ongoing communication between officials from both states, emphasising the need for joint efforts to address the issue promptly.

Temple Executive Officer L Ramadevi shed light on the legal proceedings surrounding the encroachments. She informed that the High Court had issued orders to the temple, demanding the encroachers to relinquish the land within a six-month period. However, the response from the encroachers has been largely uncooperative, leaving the temple authorities in a difficult situation.
