Withdraw strike call: Telangana Minister Gangula to fair price dealers

Responding to this, the Minister said that he would convene a meeting with the dealers on May 22 and asked them not to create any troubles in providing PDS rice to the poor.

HYDERABAD: Revealing that the State government was considering their demands positively, Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar on Thursday appealed to fair price shop dealers to withdraw their strike notice. FPS dealers have threatened to go on strike demanding enhancement of commission. 

Responding to this, the Minister said that he would convene a meeting with the dealers on May 22 and asked them not to create any troubles in providing PDS rice to the poor. 

At a meeting here, Kamalakar said that the State government was spending Rs 3,580 crore per year for providing PDS rice to the poor. He said that the State government was providing 1.8 lakh tonnes of rice to 90 lakh ration cards benefiting 2,82,60,000 people, spending `298 crore per month, he said.
