Priyanka to address public meet on Telangana Formation Day

HYDERABAD: The State unit of Congress is planning to organise a public meeting on June 2, marking the Telangana Formation Day, which will be addressed by All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi.

This will be the Gandhi scion’s second public meeting in less than a month. On May 8, she addressed a public meeting in Hyderabad where she released “Youth Declaration”, promising to fulfil all the promises made to the youth if the grand old party comes to power in the State. She had also assured that the Congress government will fight for the cause of kin of Telangana martyrs.

As part of its preparation for the proposed meeting, and with a view to widely publicise the points mentioned in the “Youth Declaration”, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) will be conducting an online quiz competition with the involvement of members of Youth Congress and its student wing National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).

In tune with its promise to provide electric scooters to all girl students above the legal age of adult suffrage, the TPCC will be presenting electric scooters to toppers in the women’s category of the quiz competition in each Assembly constituency.

Speaking at an event organised to reveal the details of the proposed quiz at Gandhian Ideology Centre in Bowenpally, TPCC president A Revanth Reddy said: “Priyanka Gandhi will be arriving in the city to present electric scooters to the winners.”Popular singer Rahul Sipligunj of Natu, Natu fame launched the publicity material at the event, which was also attended by AICC Telangana in-charge Manikrao Thakre and other senior leaders.

2nd leg of Revanth’s yatra

Meanwhile, buoyed by the positive response he received during the first leg of his padayatra, Revanth is planning to start the second leg very soon.Sources close to Revanth informed TNIE that he wants to launch the second leg his of yatra from Jogulamba Shakti Peetam in Alampur and conclude it in the Gajwel Assembly constituency, which is being represented by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Revanth had earlier planned to start the second leg in the first or second week of May, but deferred to due to Assembly elections in the neighbouring Karnataka.A team of Congress strategists, led by Sunil Kanugolu, is currently working on finalising yatra details, including the schedule and the route.

It may be mentioned here that Revanth had stopped the first leg of his yatra in the wake of Telangana State Public Service Commission paper leakage scam, to devote more time for taking up the issue, both legally and politically.

Revanth promises Rs 1 cr reward for Natu Natu singer

TPCC chief A Revanth Reddy has offered a Rs 10 lakh reward for Rahul Sipligunj who sang the Oscar winning number Natu, Natu for SS Rajamouli’s ORR. Alleging that the State has failed to recognise the popular singer’s achievement, he said: “The party’s reward of Rs 10 lakh will be handed over to him by Priyanka Gandhi on Telangana Formation Day. After coming to power, we will give Rs 1 crore to Sipligunj who is the son of Telangana soil.”
