HYDERABAD: Senior Congress leader and former Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) chairman Kodanda Reddy on Friday alleged that the complete lifting of the 28-year-old GO 111 which imposed restrictions on the constructions in the catchment area of Osman Sagar and Himayatsagar reservoirs is a huge scam.

He alleged that around 80 per cent of lands spread across 84 villages were alienated by politicians and real estate businessmen at cheaper prices. In a statement, the veteran Congress leader alleged that the BRS leaders, including Ministers and Legislators, have constructed farmhouses within the full-tank level of these water bodies, which are a lifeline for the city. “Under the pretext of warding off restrictions imposed by GO 111, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is standing firm with capitalists, real estate business community,” he alleged.

Alleging that the BR's government concentrated merely on land-related issues out of his vested interest, Kondada Reddy alleged that the State government has put 1.45 lakh acres, including assigned lands allocated to Dalits and marginalised communities, for sale after scrapping Telangana Bhoodan Yagna Board. He also alleged that the BRS leaders were grabbing the lands of the poor by placing the land records under a “prohibited category”.
