HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has emphasised that the “Core Urban Region Economy (CURE), Peri Urban Region Economy (PURE) and Rural Agriculture Region Economy (RARE)” will serve as the new development models to help Telangana achieve a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
As part of the Telangana Rising Vision Document – 2027, the state will be divided into three economic regions, he said.
On Sunday, the chief minister held a review meeting with his Cabinet ministers and senior officials on the Telangana Rising Vision Document and arrangements for the Global Summit. On the occasion, he unveiled the invitation cards for the summit.
Speaking to reporters later, Revanth said that the vision document comprises two components — vision and strategy. To achieve the economic goals and targets, the government must adopt transparent policies, he noted, adding that future development plans have been drawn up under Vision 2047.
Explaining the CURE model, the chief minister said: “Due to multiple administrative bodies like GHMC, municipal corporations and gram panchayats functioning within the Outer Ring Road (ORR), people are facing many problems. The government has therefore decided to develop the area within the ORR as CURE.
There is heavy pollution here due to industries and diesel vehicles. To make it a Net Zero City, we have to cure it. We want to transform 2,170 sq km of this CURE area into a service sector hub by shifting industries outside the ORR. Under CURE development, the government will rejuvenate the Musi river and expand the Metro.”
On PURE, he stated that the Centre has given in-principle approval for the Regional Ring Road (RRR).
‘4 airports to be developed’
“We want to develop the area between the ORR and the RRR as PURE. This will be a manufacturing zone. We have convinced the central government to ensure connectivity to PURE with greenfield highways and bullet trains — from Bengaluru to Hyderabad, Hyderabad to Amaravati and Amaravati to Chennai. As Telangana is a landlocked state, we are developing a dedicated greenfield highway connecting PURE to Machilipatnam Port. I have spoken to the prime minister and the Andhra Pradesh chief minister in this regard.”
He added that efforts are also underway to develop airports at Warangal, Adilabad, Ramagundam and Kothagudem to improve air connectivity. According to him, PURE will significantly strengthen Telangana’s economy.
Speaking about RARE, Revanth said: “We do not want to neglect rural areas, especially farmers, agriculture and agricultural produce. We want rural areas and farmers to become stakeholders in Telangana’s economic growth. We will encourage the establishment of food processing industries. That is why we want to develop the region between the RRR and the Telangana border as RARE.”
“Telangana means business, industries, nature, agriculture and tourism,” he said. “Our role models for growth are China, Japan, Germany, Singapore and South Korea. Our competition is not with Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka or Tamil Nadu. Our competition is with developed countries.”
