

HYDERABAD: With Cyclone Montha making landfall near Antarvedi in Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district in Andhra Pradesh around 8 pm on Tuesday, Telangana is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on Wednesday.
Some areas, particularly in the northern and eastern districts, may receive 100–150 mm of rain, according to the IMD. Central Telangana is expected to witness moderate to heavy rainfall, while southern parts of the state may see light to moderate showers.
Hyderabad is forecast to receive moderate rain from morning to afternoon, with a gradual reduction towards the evening.
For Wednesday, the IMD has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Adilabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam and Mahbubabad districts. A yellow alert has also been issued for isolated heavy rainfall in Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts.
Although a red alert was in place on Tuesday for three districts and orange for eight, most parts of the state recorded only light to moderate rains. Amrabad of Nagarkurnool district witnessed most rains in the state at 8.93 cm. Meanwhile, Hyderabad received light intermittent rains on Tuesday night.

Farmers told to stay cautious
Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao urged cotton farmers to remain cautious and prevent high moisture in harvested produce due to the cyclone’s impact.
Ministers have directed officials and district collectors to stay on high alert and ensure paddy procurement is not disrupted.
Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy instructed officials to use tarpaulins to protect paddy stored at procurement centres, expedite the transport of stocks to rice mills and temporarily halt harvesting in affected areas to prevent crop damage.
SCR CANCELS 126 TRAINS
Hyderabad: In view of Cyclone Montha, South Central Railway (SCR) has cancelled as many as 126 passenger and express trains scheduled to operate through coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha from October 28 to 30. SCR has also diverted eight trains and rescheduled 29 over the next three days, impacting a total of 169 services.
