HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has directed officials to conduct gram sabhas and ward sabhas from April 2 as part of the “Praja Palana – Pragathi Pranalika” programme.
On Tuesday, the deputy chief minister, along with Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao, held a video conference with district collectors from Praja Bhavan.
During the meeting, he instructed collectors to ensure uniform conduct of gram sabhas across the state. He said the programme should begin with the chief minister’s message, followed by a detailed reading of welfare schemes being implemented by the government. He directed that, as far as possible, the list of beneficiaries under Rythu Bharosa, details of 200 units of free electricity, and the list of Indiramma housing beneficiaries be read out during the gram sabhas.
He also emphasised the need to create awareness among people about ongoing welfare schemes and the proposed universal life insurance scheme to be launched from June 2.
Further, he instructed officials to share details of the morning breakfast programme in government schools, including provision of milk for three days and “ragi java” for three days, as well as the newly introduced midday meal scheme for Intermediate students.
Vikramarka said substantial funds were being released to Gram Panchayats and directed that details of allocations to each village be announced during the gram sabhas. He added that the chief secretary and the Planning department would continuously monitor the progress of the Praja Palana programme through regular updates from district collectors.
Planning department Secretary Gaurav Uppal briefed collectors on the sequence of activities to ensure uniformity and effectiveness in conducting gram sabhas. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Secretary T K Sridevi said municipal staff achieving 100 per cent tax collection would be felicitated during ward sabhas to encourage better urban governance.
Principal Secretary of Health Christina Zongthu said a Health Week will be observed across the state from April 6, during which awareness programmes will be conducted.
