Life imprisonment for 15 in Karimnagar murder case

Based on a complaint lodged by his wife, Bojja Samatha, police registered a case and conducted a detailed investigation.

KARIMNAGAR: In a sensational murder case reported a few years ago in Chamanpalli village under Karimnagar Rural Police Station limits, the District Principal and Sessions Court has awarded life imprisonment to 15 accused. Delivering its judgment on Tuesday, the court sentenced all the accused to rigorous life imprisonment and imposed a fine of `1,500 each in the murder of Bojja Tirupati (48).

The incident took place on April 19, 2019, on the outskirts of the village, where Tirupati, who was serving as president of the Fishermen Cooperative Society, was brutally murdered due to personal enmity after he had removed the accused from the society’s membership linked to fishing activities. The prime accused, Mayakala Dharma Rajam (A1), along with 14 others, attacked Tirupati with stones and later strangled him with a towel, leading to his death.

Based on a complaint lodged by his wife, Bojja Samatha, police registered a case and conducted a detailed investigation. The court found all 15 accused guilty, including Mayakala Dharma Rajam, Mayakala Ramulu, Mayakala Pochayya, Mayakala Komurayya, Mayakala Anjaiah, Mayakala Venkatesham, Mayakala Naveen, Mayakala Praveen, three persons named Srinivas (sons of Komurayya, Ramulu and Venkatesham), Mayakala Sampath and Mayakala Lachayya.
