SANGAREDDY: The allotment of 3.20 acres of land, allegedly belonging to a farmer, by the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) for setting up an industry in Kothlapur village, just four kilometers from the district headquarters, has sparked a major controversy.
The farmer, Raj Mohammad, expressed deep distress, alleging that officials cut down trees and destroyed his pigeon pea crop without serving any prior notice, even as he was cultivating the land. “I have been cultivating this land for 50 years. Without any notice, officials suddenly installed a TGIIC board and allotted the land to a Congress leader for an industry. This is completely unjust,” Mohammad said.
Meanwhile, Sangareddy MLA Chinta Prabhakar lodged a complaint with District Collector P Pravinya, questioning how the TGIIC could take possession of 3.20 acres in Survey No. 294/2 without informing the farmer.
“Brokers and certain police officers are resorting to intimidation. Raj Mohammad was reportedly summoned to the police station two or three times, detained for hours, and threatened. If the government intends to acquire land, they must follow regulations, negotiate with the farmers, and provide fair compensation,” he said.
The MLA has urged the collector to conduct an immediate inquiry, ensure justice for Raj Mohammad and take strict action against officials who bypassed regulations during the allotment.
