SCR gets Rs 13 crore, Telangana share rises to Rs 5.4 crore

The zone posted its highest gross originating revenue at Rs 21,211.92 crore, compared to Rs 20,569.35 crore earlier. Ticket checking earnings rose to Rs 232.6 crore from Rs 184.24 crore.

HYDERABAD: The South Central Railway (SCR) has been allocated a budget of Rs 13,026 crore for the financial year 2025-26, up from Rs 11,012 crore last year, SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava said on Thursday. The allocation for Telangana stands at Rs 5,454 crore this year, compared to Rs 5,337 crore last year.

Addressing the media at Rail Nilayam, he said the 18.3% increase will help sustain the pace of infrastructure works, with projects worth about Rs 48,000 crore currently underway in the Telangana region.

SCR recorded its highest-ever freight loading since inception, transporting 147.871 million tonnes (MT), surpassing the previous 144.142 MT. Freight revenue also reached a record Rs 13,575 crore, with coal, clinker, iron ore, fertilisers and food grains as major commodities.

Nearly 200 km of track was added, including new lines (35.93 km), doubling (78.768 km) and tripling (79.872 km). Electrification of 325 km was completed, maintaining 100% electrification.

The electric locomotive fleet increased from 1,268 to 1,413, making SCR the second highest in Indian Railways. Automatic block signalling covered 479 km, while Kavach 4.0 was implemented over 486 route km, exceeding the 402 route km target.
