HYDERABAD: State BJP president N Ramchander Rao on Friday said that the Congress should stop unnecessarily politicising the Centre’s denial of permission for Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s foreign trip.

Addressing the media at the party’s state headquarters, he said: “There is no political angle to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) withholding political clearance for the chief minister’s visit to the US.”

“The Union government, however, granted permission to the delegation of officials, accompanying the CM, to hold meetings for investments and agreements,” he added.

Recalling past instances of such denial of permission, he reminded: “In 2012, the UPA government denied permission to Congress CM of Assam Tarun Gogoi to visit the US and Israel. It also denied permission to the then Jharkhand BJP Chief Minister Arjun Munda to visit Thailand. The Congress MPs and leaders also wrote letters seeking denial of a US visa to Narendra Modi when he was the chief minister of Gujarat.”

Earlier, the BJP chief welcomed well-known doctors — Dr Vijayender, cancer specialist and organiser of the Cancer Rehabilitation Centre, and Dr Pramod, chairman of Meghana Hospital, LB Nagar — into the saffron party.
