SURYAPET: Suryapet District SP K Narasimha on Friday ordered the dismissal of police constable Mohammad Sharif, the prime accused in the double murder of a married couple at Mothey mandal headquarters.

Sharif, posted at Mothe Police Station, along with J Sundar, allegedly killed Halavath Nagulu and Halavath Buba of Bikya thanda, on August 11 over an unpaid loan of Rs 3 lakh. The accused allegedly buried the bodies in agricultural land at the mandal headquarters.

Police registered a case and arrested both accused within 24 hours, based on technical evidence and other leads.

The district police treated Sharif’s involvement as serious misconduct, given his position as a law-enforcement official. Following instructions from senior officials, SP Narasimha issued orders dismissing him from service.

The SP said provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have also been invoked. A DSP has been appointed as the investigating officer, and police are working to transfer the case to a fast-track court for speedy trial and strict punishment.
