HYDERABAD: BJP state legislature party leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy on Saturday alleged that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had been politically weakened, claiming that the failure of minister Konda Surekha to condemn the remarks made against him by her daughter Sushmitha Patel was evidence of the CM’s declining hold over his Cabinet and party.

Speaking to the media informally, he said chief minister’s adviser Vem Narender Reddy had directed 40 Congress MLAs to hold press conferences condemning the remarks made by Sushmitha. However, only 16 MLAs held press conferences on Friday and another five did so on Saturday, he claimed.

He said several MLAs had expressed dissatisfaction over the alleged denial of funds for development works in their constituencies.

“This shows that the CM does not enjoy even one-third support among his MLAs,” he said, adding that the Congress could consider a Cabinet reshuffle if it realised that Revanth did not enjoy the support of a majority of its MLAs.

Maheshwar Reddy further alleged that BRS leaders T Harish Rao and KT Rama Rao had held a secret meeting with the chief minister in London and claimed that AIMIM leader Fayeem Qureshi had facilitated the parleys.

He also alleged that Qureshi was mediating between the leaders over the transfer of Phoenix properties to benami companies allegedly linked to Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy.

The alleged secret association was behind the state government’s delay in pursuing cases relating to phone tapping, the Formula E car race, toll gates and power agreements, Maheshwar Reddy alleged.

Meanwhile, Maheshwar Reddy unveiled a poster demanding payment of fee reimbursement dues of students.

Addressing the media, he said that the dues had mounted to `15,000 crore and demanded immediate release of funds.
