HYDERABAD: Categorically denying that he had ever spoken against the Congress high command, State Planning Board Vice-Chairman G Chinna Reddy on Saturday sought withdrawal of the disciplinary notice issued to him by the TPCC Disciplinary Committee. He said his recent comments were only an expression of the grievances of long-standing party leaders and workers.
Chinna Reddy submitted his explanation to committee chairman and MP Mallu Ravi in response to the notice issued over his alleged remarks against the party leadership and Wanaparthy MLA T Megha Reddy during the inauguration of the mandal Congress office at Gopalpet in Wanaparthy district on August 16.
Chinna Reddy said he had been associated with the Congress for several decades and joined the party when former prime minister Indira Gandhi formed the Indira Congress in 1978. He recalled that, as an elected student union leader at Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University, he had actively associated himself with the Congress and continued with the party ever since.
He said he regarded the AICC office at Indira Bhavan in Delhi and the TPCC office at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad as “sacred institutions” and had the highest respect for leaders such as Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge.
“There is no question of my speaking against such leaders, and such a situation would never arise,” he asserted.
Responding to the allegation that he had made inappropriate remarks against the MLA, Chinna Reddy said his comments were aimed at highlighting the difficulties faced by “original Congress” leaders and workers over the past two years and eight months.
He alleged that several leaders and workers who had carried the Congress flag for nearly 40 years had been facing discrimination due to the “one-sided approach” of the MLA.
Chinna Reddy requested the committee to consider his explanation, close the matter and withdraw the disciplinary notice issued to him.
