HYDERABAD: The Opposition BRS will organise a week-long statewide campaign, highlighting the Congress government’s failures, corruption and misgovernance. The campaign will be launched on September 2, marking the Congress government’s 1,000 days in office.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday issued directions to senior party leaders, elected representatives and the party’s state committee during a teleconference. He called upon the BRS cadre and leaders to ensure that the Congress government’s “failures” in the last 1,000 days are explained to all sections of the people across the state.
Rama Rao said the Congress came to power after making numerous assurances to the people, including 420 promises, 13 declarations and six guarantees, stating that these commitments would be implemented within 100 days of forming the government. However, even after 1,000 days in office, the Congress government failed to fully fulfil even a single promise, he alleged.
He called upon BRS leaders and workers to expose what he termed the Congress’ betrayal and failures before the people.
The BRS leader called upon the party to once again take the pending commitments the Congress made to different sections of society to the people through “Baaki Cards” (debt cards). The cards should remind people of the amounts accumulated as pending payments under the monthly financial assistance promised to agricultural labourers, senior citizens, women, students and youth, he said.
Rama Rao also called upon the party leaders to highlight the non-payment of Rs 12,000 crore fee reimbursement amounts.
He said that special programmes should be organised for every section of the society to which the Congress had made promises, including auto drivers, women, farmers, tribals, Dalits, BCs, government employees and retired employees. He said the party should meet each section separately and explain the “failures” of the government.
He also wanted the leaders to use social media with innovative campaigns and communication formats developed to ensure that the details of “failures” of the Congress government reach the younger generation.
