HYDERABAD: The Telangana Tourism Development Corporation (TGTDC) is planning a major upgrade of Haritha Hotels across the state, aiming to bring their hospitality standards closer to those followed by star hotels.

The initiative will focus on improving food quality, kitchen hygiene, accommodation, room maintenance and guest services, besides introducing technology-driven monitoring and booking systems.

As part of the measures, CCTV-based live monitoring systems are being installed in the kitchens of all Haritha Hotel units to oversee food preparation, hygiene and staff activities. Dedicated vigilance teams will also be constituted to conduct regular inspections and ensure that deficiencies are addressed promptly.

TGTDC is also implementing an automated booking system that will allow tourists to check room availability and make reservations online, making the process more convenient and transparent.

TGTDC Managing Director Gowthami Pujari is conducting surprise inspections of Haritha Hotels across Telangana, reviewing rooms, restaurants, kitchens, food quality, hygiene, staff performance, maintenance and service standards.

The corporation has made it clear that there will be no compromise on food quality and kitchen hygiene. Departmental action was initiated against the unit manager of Haritha Hotel, Vikarabad, following a recent inspection.

The corporation said Haritha Hotels were being developed beyond conventional accommodation facilities into modern hospitality destinations that could provide tourists with a better overall experience.

Pujari said improving food quality, hygiene, accommodation and services at Haritha Hotels was among TGTDC’s priorities. With Telangana’s tourism sector growing, she said hospitality standards at the properties must also evolve.

The corporation is seeking to establish a more consistent monitoring mechanism across its properties, with emphasis on quality food, hygienic surroundings, better services and convenient online booking.
