HYDERABAD: Jubilee Hills police on Sunday questioned the driver of N Sumanth, former OSD to Endowment Minister Konda Surekha, in an attempt to murder case. Sumanth and others were also allegedly involved in the case. Police said that the driver was let off after being questioned.

The case was registered by the police on August 20 against N Sumanth and several others for allegedly attempting to murder 36-year-old real estate businessman Gongidi Harikrishna.

According to Harikrishna’s complaint, Sumanth called him around 5 pm on July 30 and asked him to meet him urgently. Harikrishna, who had just returned from his native village, told him that he would meet him the next day.

Later, at the insistence of a friend, Harikrishna went to Jubilee Hills, where Sumanth allegedly confronted him over money collected in his name. When Harikrishna denied the allegation, Sumanth allegedly abused him and assaulted him with an iron rod.

Sumanth then allegedly instructed his associates, who had arrived at the scene, to kill Harikrishna. The associates allegedly beat him up, leaving him with a fracture to his left hand and bleeding injuries. Harikrishna also allegedly vomited blood before seeking treatment at a hospital.

Later, he approached Medipally police and lodged a complaint against Sumanth, Prashanth, Arun Kumar Reddy, Karthik, Mahender Reddy, Ramu and others. Medipally police registered a Zero FIR and transferred the case to Jubilee Hills police for investigation.

Police said all the accused were absconding and efforts were on to trace them.
