HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday continued his twin-pronged campaign of unveiling major infrastructure projects and targeting BJP leaders over Telangana’s development, by renewing his attack on Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and announcing that an international bus terminal would be built on nearly 100 acres at Gajularamaram.

Addressing the Praja Palana–Pragati Pranalika public meeting at Miyapur after inaugurating the Bachupally flyover and launching development works worth Rs 1,674 crore in the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) limits, Revanth said work on the proposed international bus terminal would begin within three months. He also reiterated the government’s commitment to the Phase-II expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail network.

The chief minister said the state government’s focus over the next 24 months would be on development and called on all political parties to work together for the progress of Hyderabad and Telangana.

At the same time, he sharpened his criticism of Kishan and the BJP, alleging that Telangana was not receiving adequate support from the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre. Claiming that Kishan met other Union ministers soon after the state government submitted memorandums seeking support for development projects, the chief minister questioned the purpose of those meetings.

CM dares BJP, BRS to debate on governance

Revanth also challenged the BJP and BRS to a debate in the Telangana Assembly on the performance of former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao during his 10-year tenure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 12 years in office and the Congress government’s record over the past two-and-a-half years.

“Some persons are criticising that the Congress has done nothing in the last two-and-a-half years. I challenge both the BRS and BJP to a debate. We are ready to hold an Assembly session,” he said.

The chief minister questioned BJP MPs from Telangana, including Eatala Rajender, M Raghunandan Rao, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy and Kishan, over what he described as their failure to secure adequate Central funds for the state’s development.

Accusing the Opposition of creating hurdles for major projects, Revanth said leaders should offer constructive suggestions instead. He also criticised opposition parties for opposing the Musi rejuvenation project while pointing to the development of the Sabarmati riverfront in Gujarat.

Stating that Hyderabad’s rapid growth required long-term planning, Revanth said his government was implementing infrastructure projects to match the city’s aspirations. He described Hyderabad as one of India’s key economic centres and said planned development was essential to address future urban challenges.

As part of its housing plans, the state government intends to build one lakh LIG and MIG houses across the metropolitan region and provide housing to eligible beneficiaries in the areas where they currently reside. He said encroached government lands were being reclaimed for housing projects.

Revanth also said the metropolitan region had been reorganised into three municipal corporations — GHMC, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation — to facilitate future growth and improve coordination between civic and police authorities.

Among the projects launched on Sunday were the permanent headquarters of the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation at Kothaguda, a six-lane flyover from Miyapur X Road to Allwyn X Road, a three-lane underpass from Bachupally to Allwyn X Road, a road-over-bridge near Lingampally railway station, ORR service road and bridge works, the Young India Integrated School, ORR widening between Nanakramguda and Gachibowli, and approach ramps at the Kollur Interchange.
