The Malayalam superhit, Bhaskar the Rascal, starring Mammootty and Nayanthara, is all set to be remade in Tamil with Arvind Swami in the lead. The Roja fame actor will play a hard-nosed businessman in the film which is about the story of two single parents.
Siddique, who helmed the original, will direct the remake too. Initially, there were reports saying Rajinikanth was signed on for the film, but it was just a rumour. Reliable sources have confirmed that Arvind has been officially signed on the dotted line, and the announcement will be made after the leading lady and the supporting cast are finalised. Arvind will begin work on this film after he completes shooting for Sathuranga Vettai-2, in which he co-stars with Trisha.
“He has been receiving many offers in Telugu cinema as well. But he’s not in a hurry to sign projects. He’s hosting Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi, a reality show on a popular TV channel that consumes most of his time,” added a source.
His Telugu action flick Dhruva, a remake of the Jayam Ravi-starrer Thani Oruvan, hit theatres on Friday. He is awaiting the release of Bogan, and also has an untitled project with filmmaker Selva, who helmed Naan Avan Illai (2007).
