HYDERABAD: Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) chairman M Kodandaram, who is firm on building a movement against the state government’s act of procuring land from farmers for various projects allegedly violating the norms of Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 (R & R Act, 2013), decided to mobilise support of national level social activists to his fight.

He resolved to organise a national level seminar in Hyderabad soon by roping in noted social activists from across India to oppose state’s ‘forcible land acquisition’ for various projects.
Social activist Medha Patkar on Sunday called on Kodandaram here and extended her support to the activities being undertaken by the TJAC.

“The social activist paid a visit to express her solidarity with TJAC, which is undertaking relentless agitations against the anti-people’s policies of the government. She condemned the repressive attitude being adopted by the ruling establishment towards the TJAC. She also censured the way the government had created obstacles for the proposed rally with unemployed youth earlier by deploying a large number of police forces,” the TJAC stated in a release after the meeting.

The TJAC further stated that both Kodandaram and Medha decided to organise a meeting in Hyderabad to highlight the issues of commoners such as forcible land acquisition, unemployment and anti-people’s policies of the government.
“This meeting is proposed to be organised to unite all like-minded organisations and people’s groups across the country to launch a united fight against the anti-people’s policies being adopted by governments in respective states. Medha Patkar opined that there should be a national level movement to force the ruling establishments to initiate people-centric development,” the TJAC announced.
