ADILABAD: The clashes between Adivasis and Lambadas has reportedly attracted the attention of
Centre. The Union government conducted an internal probe into the incident. The Central agencies collected details from the villagers and submitted a report to the Union government. It is also learnt that during the enquiry, the Central agencies found that the Intelligence failure resulted in the violence. They also noticed that the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) project officer post has been vacant for one year and funds were diverted to other sectors rather than for ITDA.

The report also attributed  differences between the Adilabad former MP Ramesh Rathod and Khanapur MLA Rekha Naik as one of the reasons for the conflict between  the two groups. It also felt that the purpose of the State government in bifurcating the districts did not give results completely and instead of better governance, the problems increased and the internal security agencies failed to identify them.
Adivasis have been agitating for the last two-and-a-half- months in various kinds including closing tribal schools and boycotting Lambadas teachers from schools. They have been demanding the government to remove Lambadas from the ST category.

The district collector Budha Prakash M Jyoti and police organised many meetings with the community elders to solve the problems but it did not find any solution. After December 15 incident, the issue has been taken seriously by the State government and Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna and Endowment Minister A Indrakaran Reddy and community of elected representatives.

Following the incident, Khanapur MLA Rekha
Naik visited Hasnapoor thanda and expressed her solidarity with families who lost their property. She appealed the communities that problems would be solved through discussions and the issue would be brought to the notice of the government. Meanwhile, Adilabad MP G Nagesh said that the issue was brought to the notice of the State government and he appealed both the communities to maintain peace.
