BHADRACHALAM : The state government is mulling over development of Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy devasthanam in Bhadrachalam at a budget of `150 crore. This facelift, however, comes at a cost of around 200 families losing their homes. The final designing and estimation works are going on at a brisk pace as, according to information, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is likely to lay foundation stone for the development works in November.

As per master plan designed by renowned architect Anand Sai, temple authority needs to acquire 65 acres of land surrounding temple for taking up works. Around 200 houses in 28.5 acres will have to be demolished for widening of Mada streets and construction of Prakara mandapam. Meanwhile, house owners are opposing developmental works and are still to reach a consensus with officials over compensation amount for their land.

Sources said the CM has approved development plan.
According to the master plan, a 108-feet Anjaneya Swamy statue in the middle of Godavari river, and a 70-feet Bhakta Ramadas statue at the flood bank near bathing ghats would be major attraction for devotees. Additional queue lines and a 1,000-pillar kalyanamandapam is also planned. Another major attraction is a flyover from flood bank, via Narasimha Swamy temple, to main temple for hassle-free darshan.
