Keeping intact the traditional form of storytelling, Mahabharta is being re-narrated by director Atul Satya Koushik in Arjun Ka Beta in the coming week. Being presented by the Films and Theatre Society as part of the Theatre in Motion Festival, it is an honest attempt to portray characters in their original avatar. “Arjun Ka Beta is a poetic rendition of a conversation between King Yudhishtira and Bheeshama. It is a verbatim description of the bravado of Abhimanyu given to Bheeshma by Yudhishtira who also shares his inability to face Arjun who would soon be coming back from the battlefield and ask for his son. Also, the play shows the various philosophies related to the chakravyuh. Bheeshma motivates Yudhishtira to face the reality and do what a father should be doing when his son has been killed in the battlefield. On the other hand, Lord Krishna questions the mourning on Abhimanyu’s failure to come out of the Chakravyuh,” says Koushik who hopes his attempt won’t go in vain.
