Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa wants to heal his country’s strained ties with India. And to the rescue is none other than his 41-year-old “find” Eliyantha Lindsay White, whose “spiritual medicine” is quite the rage among many Indian celebrities. From corporate honchos to Bollywood stars to leading men of the Indian cricket team, all have been queued up some time or other to be cured by White.

Now, the road to White is through Rajapaksa. As the spiritual healer only attends to those recommended by the President. White has been successfully practicing his unique system of medicine called Veenapathi (based on a combination of his own Kundalini Shakthi and “trust” between the patient and the doctor) since his early teens. But fame and name came to him only after he was “discovered” by Rajapaksa 10 years ago.

Among the acknowledged patients are Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Ashish Nehra, Salman Khan, Bipasha Basu, Anupam Kher, Mukesh Ambani  and the GMR  family. White claimed that “10 to 15 top political leaders” were also among his Indian clientele, but he would not name them.

“The President is very keen that I treat Indians. They are our brothers. In the case of some VVIPs (like Tendulkar) the President insists that the treatment be given in Sri Lanka, and at his residence, because he believes that Sri Lanka’s soil is blessed,” White affirmed.
