The spirit of giving continues even after Diwali gets over with Synergy, an exhibition that brings together artists from various parts of the world to present specially commissioned works. Part of the proceeds from the sale will go towards the benefit of John Martyn Memorial School for underprivileged children. ‘‘I am privileged to be curating such a ‘giving back through art’ initiative,” says Roohi Kapoor, ‘‘The word synergy can be interpreted on different levels. On one level, synergy is a synthesis, an interaction, a fusion, a mix, just like this exhibition that brings together different creative minds together. On another level, I feel all art itself is a form of synergy as the process of making it involves a combination of various different elements that come together to create something.’’
In addition to artists from Australia, Holland, Portugal and the UK, it consists of 100 works—photographs, drawings, paintings and digital artwork. It is a platform that amalgamates different culture and varied artistic sensibilities.
A noteworthy feature of the show is a collection of rare watercolours pieces of art by late John Martyn, the headmaster at the Doon School in Dehradun from 1948 until 1966.
