Foot-soldiers play a crucial role in any battle; poll battle is no different. Foot-soldiers in elections are the party workers who sit at the booth on the election day supervising arrangements on behalf of their parties. There are 11,763 polling booths and each party aims to have at least four-five workers per booth, which means each party needs 48,000 workers.
BJP leader Vijender Gupta said his party has a committed cadre, hence it has many party workers to man poll booths—unlike the Congress and AAP.
Mukesh Sharma of the Congress came down heavily on BJP, AAP and BSP stating that they do not have booth-level workers. “AAP is a media creation; it has no structure and workers at booth level,” he said.
AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal claimed that it was the established parties which were hiring people to work for them, but people were voluntarily working for AAP at all levels. Veracity of the claims will, however, be clear on December 8.
