With Congress General Secretary and former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay Singh hinting at retirement ever so often, all eyes are on his son and heir Jaivardhan Singh. Excerpts from an interview
Will you be contesting this election as political heir of your father Digvijay Singh?
It remains to be seen whether I get the ticket from Raghogarh. If I do, I will be contesting from the seat, which my grand-father and father have represented, so it would be a great honour.
What is your strength? Is it your relation with a famous family or your education?
My biggest strengths are the people of Raghogarh and my family. My family is responsible for teaching me strong values and ethics backed by giving me the best education possible at Doon, Shri Ram College of Commerce and Columbia University.
Your father recently said he considers himself a ‘setting sun’. Do you agree?
For me he is forever shining.
In whose name will you ask for votes? Your father or Rahul and Sonia Gandhi?
In the name of the Congress Party under the leadership of Soniaji, Rahulji and with the blessings of my father.
What are the strengths and weaknesses of the Congress in Madhya Pradesh?
Congress has a very strong and charismatic leadership in MP. If all the leaders work together, we will form the government.
