The promoters of Nom Nom, a new Asian restaurant at The Hotel Ashoka, have an important declaration to make. ‘‘Delhi’s restaurant scene is unmatched. The quality of produce, including sea food, is far superior here than it is back in Mumbai,” says Hitesh Keswani, who is impressed and inspired by the capital city. Having said that, he is looking forward to Nom Nom doing good business so he can take it to other parts of the city.
The place is huge, no doubt, but the USP lies in its planning. The central Chinese Dragon-inspired seating arrangement is particularly attractive. It goes up in a spiral format with tables at each level. Of course all of that comes for a cost. The lowest seating has a cover charge of `15,000 and the top most will go for `75,000. “The idea behind having this kind of seating is that first it’s unique and second, I know for a fact that Delhiites love to look down upon people, so they can do that sitting right at the top,” laughs the co-promoter, Dharmesh Karmokar. You can choose the regular seating below as well for which a cover charge isn’t applicable. We guarantee, it won’t burn a hole in your pocket.
The food here has been well researched to include the Yue, Chuan, Hui, Lu, Min, Su, Xiang and Zhe styles of cooking. “We use fresh herbs as well as exotic imports like Dragon Fruit, Mongosteen, Rambutan and the Makrut Lime,” says Keswani.
The upper section of the 11,000-sq ft space is still under-construction but should be ready soon. “Our prices are tentative right now and we will gauge demand and supply to decide the final charges. Hopefully, the restaurant will be worth shelling out the extra bucks,” says Karmokar.
