Feast as Yankees Do

There is always an American way of doing things, especially when it comes to food and drink. Of the many anecdotes associated with American culinary history, one comes across as quite interesting. Reportedly, the US national anthem, the Star-Spangled Banner, was written to the tune of a drinking song. Another interesting fact is that Bourbon is the official spirit of the US, by act of Congress.

Cut to the present, the American Independence Day, July 4, which is a day of revelry, gives an opportunity to indulge in iconic American foods like hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob, apple pie, cole slaw and more. Celebrating that spirit, Hyatt Regency is presenting its new promotion, All American Evenings, every Friday at the Café, through July. An add-on to the regular buffet, the promotion offers dishes like Meat Loaf with Onion Gravy, Cumin Crusted Pork Belly, Rotisserie Turkey with Red Wine Sauce, Horseradish, Pickle Onion and Cranberry Sauce. Other popular American dishes are Braised Lamb Shank, Kentucky Fried Chicken Drumstick, Shepherd’s Pie, tenderloin and chicken burgers, and hot dogs, served hot from the station. The icing on the cake comes in the form of  desserts like Boston Cream Pie, New York Cheese and others.

Hyatt’s decision to keep the promotion limited to evening is keeping in tune with the ongoing FIFA World Cup. Executive Chef Marin Leuthard says, “Considering the matches are being telecast live at the Café, a special American themed evening, we thought, would work out perfectly.”
