If you were ever to be in the Spanish town of Buñol in Spain, specially in the month of August, don’t be surprised if you’re bombarded with thousands of tomatoes from all quarters. Something similar is happening closer home, at Pintxo–a Spanish tapas restaurant in Gurgaon, that presents the La Tomatina Food Festival, wherein these ripe little red tomatoes will create a flavourful riot on your plate for the rest of the month.
‘‘An accidental fight between few young guys has today become a big celebration in Spain, known as the La Tomatina festival. We at Pintxo’s take this opportunity to bring to your table various dishes prepared with tomatoes,’’ says Chef Sushmit Daniels, adding, ‘‘The Spanish love to eat them and so do Indians. According to Fruittoday Euro magazine, the Spanish eat close to 17 kilos of tomatoes per person, annually, and they eat them in all ways—fresh, crushed, stewed or simmered. We too present some of those styles in our menu.
The menu presents dishes like Gaspacho Soup, Tomato Soup with Chorizo Balls, Chicken Meat Balls in Tomato Sauce, Baked Tomato Nest, Cherry Tomato with Roasted Garlic, Figs and Cheese, Toasted Tomato Bread, Chicken Breast Stuffed with Mince and Spinach, Roasted Tomato with Flavoured Rice and Cheese, Grilled Cottage Cheese with Tomato Vegetables and Orange Sauce and a lot more.
With flavour of the season decided at Pintxo, it now eagerly awaits guests to come and try their specialities, the one with tomatoes and the others too, if one pleases.
