Karl Peters needs no introduction. One of the country’s most prominent Jazz musicians, his performance as part of his band Karl Peters Trio is being eagerly anticipated at the Moonshine Cafe and Bar, Hauz Khas Village, tonight, 9 pm onwards. Accompanied by drummer Adrian D’souza and guitarist Sanjay Divecha, the opening act for their show will be preceded by Grey Area, a jazz and funk band. “It’ll be a heady evening for music lovers. First with Grey Area that will open the evening with its heartfelt music and then us, a band that lives to perform for their audiences,” says Peters, who has toured all over the world with the likes of Louis Banks, Ranjit Barot, Shankar Mahadevan, Braz Gonzalvez, Zakir Hussain, Sultan Khan and others. “We’ve been rehearsing non-stop since the past few days. It’s brought us closer, both as musicians and friends,” says Peters.

Members of Grey Area, on the other hand, have been rehearsing so much that now, just a few hours before the show, they’ve chosen a quiet corner to calm down their nerves and focus on what lies ahead. “Preparations are done. Now it’s performance time. I am not only excited about our gig, but also glad that we’re going first, so that later we can enjoy Karl Peters Trio play, like everybody else,’’ says Saibal Basu, the guitarist of the band.
