Was there a Modi wave?
There was definitely a Modi wave. The buzz about Modi at the campus helped us win.
What was your agenda?
The NSUI did nothing for the students when they were in power for almost 16 years. They never made appeals to the senior party leaders to help resolve the campus issues. On the other hand ABVP really works on ground-level and understands the students’ problems. The best example is the FYUP issues. We took it up to PM Narendra Modi. Our main demand was that will ask authorities to develop the East Delhi Campus.

How will you resolve the issues faced by the North Campus?
We will demand hostels for 10 percent of the students enrolled in DU. Currently, only two percent students get hostels. DUSU will issue a circular in colleges about the setting up of complaint boxes. Students living outside the campus can submit complaints on the problems they face with landlords or anyone else.
What was the main agenda during the DUSU campaign?
abvp was focusing on the scrapping of the FYUP and demanding Delhi University Special buses.

You were actively involved in the FYUP issue.
I have been associated with the ABVP for three years. I got totally involved with the students’ wing and participated in various protests. I am thankful to the students for showing faith in me and giving me an opportunity to work for them.
How do you balance studies and politics?
I am a student of political science. I really get a lot of help from my studies in understanding students’ politics.
What are you future plans?
I will work for students after completing my studies. I will be associated with the ABVP.

You were in charge of south Campus of Delhi University. What new changes you are going to propose?
We will demand for West Delhi Campus. The Central government has planned five new sub-cities in Delhi. We will focus on the issue of the safety of students from the North East. We are holding interactive sessions with students coming from the region and trying to understand their problems.
What are you future plans?
ABVP will decide what new responsibility they will bestow on me. I have to fulfil my duties as the joint secretary first.
