Besides all the help available in guide books, nutritional charts and web portals about eating right, you can now find additional assistance from your zodiac signs. The good thing about it is that it’s not preachy and allows you to shortlist from a wide spectrum of choices.

For the same reason, holistic healer Poonam Sethi, who whole-heartedly advocates tweaking one’s menu according to the elements complementing one’s star sign, believes little changes can go a long way in keeping a person’s energy system revitalised. “We all operate under zodiac elements, namely air, water, fire, and earth. That dictates a person’s attitude and personality. In short, Zodiac foods take into account a person’s food personality,” says Poonam who has initiated the concept at the city’s popular Middle Eastern lounge, Zerzura, which happily collaborated with the healer to present a special menu in accordance with the tenets of her food philosophy.

Being offered for parties, group bookings and personalised tastings, Poonam, who has been researching on the merit of the concept since the last few years now, says these are helpful guidelines, not full-proof solutions to your dietary issues. “One would become God if one could guarantee 100 per cent success for anything. However, these are good suggestions since their implementation will certainly help to a large extent,” she says, going on to explain each element briefly. People born under air signs (Libra, Gemini and Aquarius), she says, are the ones who know how to lose weight if they really want to. They, however, like to eat and that too mostly in the evening, which is not great. The food that complements them are gravies of any kind and at Zerzura, they could try Muhammara, wood-fired oven-roasted Chicken with dates, almonds and roast gravy, and others.

Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn), according to Poonam, are persistent by nature and that keeps their health and weight in check. They should avoid proteins, raw foods and carbonated drinks but can indulge in cheese, butter, soup and the occasional lean meat. At Zerzura, they can try Hummus, Casablanca Cous Cous with Roasted Summer Vegetables Tagine, and more.

People born under Fire signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius), she says, should include proteins in their diet. At the lounge, they can try Chicken and Safforn Tagine with Green Olives and Preserved Lemon, Date and Fig Gratin with Rosemary and Honey Ice-Cream among other items.

Finally, people under water signs (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces), she says, are susceptible to infections. They should avoid oily foods, sweets, breads, salt, carrots and cabbage. At Zerzura, they can try Cacik Jujeh Kebabs and more.

Clearly, there is plenty of choice that’s served sumptuously at the restaurant. Besides, with those starry recommendations, eating right will be the easiest thing to do now.
