The Amazon India Couture Week (AICW) 2015 kicked off with the dramatic presentation by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Besides Sabya venturing into cocktail ensembles, the show’s highlight was his partnership with luxe footwear designer, Christian Louboutin. The tiered sequin work in rustic gold was reflected in Louboutin’s killer heels for women and smoking and laced-up shoes for men. Body-hugging gowns, voluminous lehengas and saris paired with ornate capes dominated Sabyasachis’s couture collection.

Rahul Mishra’s much-awaited first couture collection had his signature interplay of rich Indian textiles and his intricate thread embroidery, weaving a tale in each of his ensembles. Bomber jackets paired with Indian lehengas and textured off-white saris with gold border were much appreciated.

Asymmetrical shoulders accentuated with sculpted shapes and mermaid gowns were sent down the ramp by designer Gaurav Gupta. He stuck to his usual style of sexy gowns with draped and sculpted detailing, and Kalki Koechlin walked as a showstopper in one such number.

Monisha Jaisingh went for an uber-sexy look with red-carpet gowns with strategically placed slash and slits for a bit of naughty skin show while Anju Modi took to traditional silhouettes with Persian flavour.
