As Prime Minister Narendra Modi leads the way in giving yoga its due importance in the new health policy, Sangeet Natak Akademi and the Ministry of Culture, are following his footsteps by organising a Yog Parv.

Commencing on the International Day of Yoga on June 21, it will present over 300 works of art, dance presentations, music performances and several engaging workshops. “Performing arts is understood in the context of Yoga as naad yoga, asanas, mudras, pranayam, bandhas, kriyas and dhyana. In both disciplines, the practice combines physical exercise and has meditative and spiritual pursuits that connect humanity,” says Helen Acharya, secretary at the Sangeet Natak Akademi.

Yoga Chakra will bring to fore all philosophies of life-sustaining practices and present illustrated manuscripts, paintings, installations, digital work, films and a lot more. There will be something to cater to everybody’s interest.

Institutions such as Indira Gandhi National Centre for Art New Delhi, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, National Museum, New Delhi, Indian Museum, Kolkata, and Allahabad Museum, all come in unison along with Sangeet Natak Akademi to throw light on the importance of this traditional practice. Yoga schools and centres such as Isha Foundation, Patanjali and Morarji

Desai National Institute of Yoga bring workshops for the masses, in addition to putting out necessary information about their ayurvedic, herbal and organic products that will be sold at the festival too.

Upholding the main idea behind the initiative—to present a comprehensive understanding of this 5,000-year-old discipline—Yog Parv will be transforming the Rabindra Bhavan premises into a wellness abode, an organic bazaar and visual retreat with day-long activities to keep you happy healthy.
