Checking into the Season’s Styles

As designer duo Hemant & Nandita Lalwani welcomed guests at the launch of their Spring Summer 2015 collection at Kitsch, a multi-brand concept store in Defence Colony, one thing was certain—it was going to be a soiree of all things bright and beaming. That’s precisely what the designers creations epitomise. Titled The Knot, the line is symbolic of the ties that both of them have sewn between time-honoured styles and new age aesthetics. “Our label has always been synonymous with prints; however, there is so much more that our garments represent. With the silhouettes now available at the Kitsch stores, people will be able to experience all the other elements that constitute our sensibilities,” says Nandita, who was the perfect host of the evening that saw in attendance Rohit Bal, Sunil Sethi, AD Singh, Anupama Dayal, Shabnam Singhal, Fariha Ansari, Reynu Tandon and others.

Hauling out their inspirations from travel, Ikat was one technique that really struck a chord. It was during the recent trip of the designers to Istanbul, when in the process of exploring the city, they were amazed at the variety of Ikat prints available. It was then that they decided to use it in their work, and create statement pieces, amalgamating prints and embroideries. “Accurate detailing and finishing insure that the retro silhouettes merge faultlessly with pop colours in this Spring and Summer 15 collection. Smoke grey and night blues against saffron, sunshine yellow and off-white have been incorporated into the outfits,” says Lalwani.
