

Prisoners to Design Haute Couture for Women
Kochi: Prison manufacturing in Kerala is all set to enter a new realm with launching of an ‘international’ apparel brand for women that can also be brought online.The manufacturing unit based in the central prison at Poojappura, which is already into making of shirts has undergone a rebranding process and is set to take the women’s fashion world by storm through the launch of ‘Free Fiesta’. The brand with the tag line ‘International sensible design for Indian women’, will be announced shortly. “We are now going to launch a new line. It is something special,” said Loknath Behera, DGP (Prisons). The brand will be sold in outlets outside prisons across the state and online.
Telangana Excise Minister Shops for Cheap Liquor
Hyderabad: Telangana excise minister T Padma Rao Goud recently purchased a dozen of cheap liquor bottle from a shop here in a bid to save poor peoples life. He did this to inspire people to buy cheap liquor instead of gudumba (illicitly distilled liquor). “We are not going to introduce any new variety of liquor. The Opposition is unnecessarily making a hue and cry over our new excise policy. The government decided to sell 90 ml liquor for Rs 15 and 180 ml liquor bottle for Rs 30. We decided to reduce the excise duty, VAT and sales tax on certain varieties of IMFL available to consumers and wean them away from gudumba, which is claiming many lives,’’ he said.
